'If It's Football, It's Vital'

F1 Is My DNA - I'm A Fan Of Football

Flamboyant Queens Park Rangers co-owner and F1 Renault boss Flavio Briatore differentiates his feelings between Formula 1 and football.

Thursday 13 March saw Irish pay TV company Setanta Sports published an article in which the Italian multi-millionaire spoke about his love affair with F1 and last seasons infamous spy scandal involving the McLaren team, nevertheless, Flavio had this to say reference his beloved Queens Park Rangers Football Club:

'F1 is in my DNA. I like football because I'm a fan and I have taken over the club with Bernie [F1 chief Ecclestone] and Lakshmi Mittal. But I don't see F1 like a sport. I see it like a business.'

In November 2007, Briatore completed his takeover of Queens Park Rangers together with F1 mogul Bernie Ecclestone. Meanwhile multi-billionaire Lakshmi Mittal, the 5th richest person in the world bought 20% of the club shortly afterwards.
