Gigi: Ref Cost Us

Luigi De Canio had some stern words for official Mr. Joslin following the final whistle at Carrow Road, following the 3-0 defeat against Norwich City.

He told the official website:

"The referee made some crucial errors, and that cost us today."

"Maybe Norwich would have won the match even if the sending off hadn`t happened"

Gigi continued:

"They had far more to play for than we did but we will never know that now because of that early decision."

"We have to accept the judgement of the referee, even if we don`t necessarily agree with it."

"Referee`s have to make split second decisions, and it can be difficult for them, but I feel we were unlucky with an important one today."

De Canio also explained the tactical shift that saw both wide players withdrawn with a preference to two strikers remaining upfront:

"We needed to keep two up front to give us any chance…but when the deflected effort gave them their second goal in the second, we ran out of options"

"The red card and the deflected goal summed up our day"

There was however still high praise for his players:

"We did what was possible. The task was really difficult after the sending off, but I am pleased with the players` efforts. They never stopped running and we kept fighting until the end."

That is Gigi`s opinion, we want to know what you think.

I have t say that this is poor reporting by the official website. They missed out a crucial bit that was said at the press conference. "Maybe Lee Camp deserved to go but I didn't think Damion deserved the red card but the ref has made his decision and you'll have to ask him about that." So, yes the decision to send off Damion was bad, but it should have been the 'keeper that was sent off. QPR would still be down to 10, so I don't think the ref "cost us today"
