QPR Bumped For European Champions

Oxford United have been the subject of rumours within the local media, suggesting that the U's are lining friendlies with a number of Premier League clubs.

With no dates officially being confirmed, the U`s are looking forward to the possibility that the newly crowned European Champions and double winners, Manchester United may grace the turf of the Kassam Stadium.

Other teams in the pipeline include Rangers west-london rivals Fulham, as well as F.A. Cup Winners Portsmouth.

Ex-Rangers Boss and Oxford United Director of Football, Jim Smith spoke about the potential of such friendlies:

"We are trying, put it like that.' Jim told the BBC

'But it is difficult these days because clubs can earn fortunes by playing friendlies abroad.

'Hopefully, in the next couple of weeks, we'll have something confirmed.'

With no explanation given to the cancellation it would seem that Rangers have indeed been overlooked in place of Premier League opposition once more. It will be the second time in two years with the R`s due to play Shrewsbury in the first game at the New Meadow.

The Shrews instead opted for Manchester City, and the rest as they say is history.
