Town Boss Relishing Higher Challenge

Swindon Town boss Maurice Malpas has welcomed the opportunity to play higher league opposition, following the draw against QPR.

Former Motherwell boss, Malpas, expressed his delight with Friday`s Carling Cup draw stating:

'It's a very pleasing draw. QPR are tipped to go well in the Championship so it will be interesting to see how we fare against them."

'I will make sure we play our strongest side. A lot of teams see the cup competitions as secondary, but for clubs like Swindon your best chance of glory is often the cup."

Malpas who steered Town to a 13th place finish in League One continued:

'I think it's only fair to the fans that we look to do well. It is recognition for their team, and it's nice to hear other teams talk about Swindon."

'If we can progress it is also an excellent chance to get some extra revenue."

'We're not going to win the Premier League, we would like to get promotion, but doing well in the Carling Cup can really make people sit up and take notice.'

Not a happy hunting ground for the R`s, The County Ground has played host to several Rangers downfalls, with that last time the sides meeting a 1-1 draw ensued. The very same day England`s Rugby team ran out victorious at the World Cup.
