'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Exclusive: Daniel Nardiello

QPR Striker Daniel Nardiello dropped by for a brief chat to Vital QPR about his Rangers career thus far and his hopes for the future.

Nardiello who signed for QPR a year ago on Friday divulged the reasons as to why he chose the R`s over a host of other clubs, namely Iain Dowie`s Coventry City.

"There were a few clubs that wanted me last year. But when I spoke to John Gregory my mind was made up, he sounded really positive about my future and the club and he was the reason I signed.

The deal came about when John Gregory rang my agent and the deal went from there. I came down to Harlington and Loftus Road, had a look around and met everyone and not long after I signed."

The Rangers number eight was becoming quite a rare feature at Loftus Road with only 8 appearances, 4 of which were starts since his free transfer move from Barnsley. The Welsh International told Vital QPR the reasons he had to leave on loan.

"Well once the new manager (Luigi De Canio) came in, I was never selected. So basically I wanted to get away and play regular first team football rather than just train."

"They (Gregory and De Canio) both had their own ideas on how to manage the team and training was very different with the two different styles and approaches. I think they both knew the game very well, but they liked to train and play differently."

Injury played a key role in Nardiello`s demise at Loftus Road, having difficulty getting a look in under Luigi De Canio, the niggles took their toll on the striker.

"Yes, I have had a few injuries, never any really serious ones, it`s more frustrating than anything, not being able to play. Hopefully I can put all that behind me and have an injury free season."

As mentioned in Daniel Nardiello, QPR have an international to their name, making three international appearances for Wales following in his fathers footsteps. Daniel was qualified to play for a whole host of international sides, but in the end he opted for Wales.

"I chose Wales as they were the first country to ask me and it is a great honour to play for them. I was also asked by Puerto Rico but there wasn`t any way it was going to be possible for me to be eligible to play."

With QPR entering the Dawn of a new era, the transition from outside the club has been made evident publicly, but what about on this inside? And what does this mean to the career of Nardiello?

"I believe that QPR is a club that`s really going places. It`s never easy to break into the Premier League and stay there let alone challenge for the title, but with the current regime backing the club it looks as though the future will be a good one, certainly a bright one."

"I`m not sure as yet what will happen with me this season but I`ll go into it positively as ever and one way or the other I hope its a successful one for myself"

"I have yet to speak with Iain Dowie about my future, but I will certainly look to do so soon"

Nardiello left off with a tantalising statement as to where the future may lie

"I`m happy most when I`m playing regular first team football, so hopefully I`ll get that this year"

Vital QPR would like to personally thank Daniel Nardiello for his contribution, and wish him all the best for his Rangers career
