'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Newsround

A chance for fan's to catch up with the latest news from the Rangers camp over the past few days.

Tuesday:

n Tuesday's evening Kevin Gallen returned to action and scored twice in the reserve's 4-0 win against Aldershot Town.

Shabazz Baidoo and Ricky Sappleton were also on target as the R's sealed a comfortable victory at The Recreation Ground.

Joe Gallen was delighted with the win and spoke to the official QPR website after the game saying: 'The result was of little significance to be honest, but it's still great to score four goals away from home and to keep a clean sheet,'' said Joe Gallen.

'The major positive was the appearance of Kevin. He looked sharp, took his goals well and came through unscathed.

'Also on the plus side, Shabazz was back amongst the goals. You could tell not scoring had been getting to him lately and he took his goal well.

'Ricky came off the bench and scored another good goal - he seems to find the back of the net every time he plays at the moment which is just fantastic at his age.''

Gallen praised the performance of young goalkeeper Sean Thomas, saying: 'Sean's had a fantastic season and was great again on Tuesday evening.

'At 1-0 he made a superb save and from his resultant goal kick we were two goals to the good and that probably proved to be the decisive moment in the match.''

Wednesday:

oung Rangers midfielder Stefan Bailey has followed in the footsteps of starlet Scott Donnelly and signed his first professional contract with the club.

Bailey put pen to paper on a two year deal at Loftus Road and was obviously delighted.

Speaking to the official website he said: 'It's great. I'm over the moon to have signed my first deal with the club.

'I didn't really expect it to arrive this soon to be honest, but Gary and the rest of the coaching staff have put their faith in me and now it's up to me to repay them.''

Bailey (18) made his debut as a substitute against Sheffield United in April 2005.

Elsewhere, new goalkeeper Paul Jones was in inspired form as he prevented England's World Cup opposition Paraguay from overcoming Wales in Cardiff.

Jones made some great stops as the two team's played out a 0-0 draw at The Millenium Stadium.

Thursday:

ommy Doherty (26) has signed an emergency loan deal with League 2 side Yeovil Town.

Since moving from Bristol City in the summer Doherty has been plagued by injury and has been unable to win his place back in the centre of midfield and has only made 14 appearances.

He goes straight into the Glovers squad to face Chesterfield on Saturday having signed the one month deal.
