Ainsworth Delighted At Friendly Triumph

Player/Coach Gareth Ainsworth took charge of a Rangers reserve and youth side that emerged victorious against Windsor & Eton last night.

'I was really pleased with the effort the lads put in for me tonight. I can't fault any of them for that." Ainsworth told QPR.co.uk

'Our passing could have been better, but it wasn't a great pitch so it was harder to get the ball down and play as we would have liked.'

Rangers beat their opponents from the Southern League Division 1 South and West 2-1. They opened the scoring courtesy of trialist Chris Flood, following some clever work from Matt O`Brien. They were soon pegged back by the Royalists when Martin Williams beat R`s stopper Reece Crowther with an exceptional volley.

The R`s ultimately grabbed the tie by the scruff of the neck as Lee Brown came off the bench to thunder a right footed drive past Kieron Drake to hand QPR the win. It was a good work out for a Rangers side with a blend of experienced players on the fringe of the squad, combined with some promising youngsters including recent signing Joe Oastler.

It was Ainsworth`s first match in charge of a side, and he relished the prospect of such experience and responsibility:

'It's totally different when you're in the dug-out, that's for sure, but I am really enjoying it."

'The gaffer was here this evening, and he gave me a few pointers afterwards, which was really useful. It's fantastic to be able to get tips from someone like him."

Rangers Squad: Reece Crowther, Joe Oastler, Chris Barker, Danny McGuire, Zesh Rehman, Josh Ford, Romone Rose, Matt O`Brien, Chris Flood, Daniel Nardiello, Chris Arthur, Lee Brown, Nicky Bulmer, Ryan Myers, Antonio German, Christian Nanetti.
