Reports Reveal Dowie Arguments

Iain Dowie was reportedly close to the sack at Loftus Road last night sources in W12 reveal following heated disagreements.

Rumour and conjecture surrounded the future of Iain Dowie last night, with message-boards a hive of activity stating that he was to be sacked by F1 magnate Flavio Briatore after arguments. - What they concerned was not so clear, some said managerial interference where as other quarters cited financial irregularity.

Dowie has been in charge of QPR since May and has presided over a difficult pre-season, which saw unconvincing wins from games against Stevenage and Northampton, followed by three defeats, two up in Scotland and then outplayed at home to Chievo.

Reports have surfaced this morning in the Times that Dowie`s row with Briatore concerned the signing of players, centred around "the proposed transfer of an unknown striker from the Middle East." With Rangers recently setting up a link with Gulf Air of Bahrain, Briatore is attempting to push the brand further into the Middle East by recruiting a player, presumably without first team coach, Iain Dowie`s blessing.

Iain Dowie was on the verge of being dismissed as manager of Queens Park Rangers last night after an argument with Flavio Briatore, the club`s Italian co-owner. Dowie, who was appointed only three months ago by the Coca-Cola Championship club, clashed yesterday with the Renault Formula One team principal about the proposed transfer of an unknown striker from the Middle East.

Briatore is understood to have told Dowie that he would be dismissed," said The Times

"But stopped short of formalising the decision and it was unclear whether the manager would report for work this morning."

"Dowie dismissed the reported row as "rumours" last night."

With Rangers Championship campaign set to begin at home to Barnsley on Saturday this was not the ideal preparation for the fixture. New signings Lee Cook and Daniel Parejo are set to be on display at Loftus Road, the question is will Mr. Dowie?
