Macca To Stay On

Alan McDonald has agreed to Gary Waddock's wishes and will stay on as assistant manager until at least the end of the season.

The future's of both individuals will then be decided and the club will make a decision whether to employ Waddock on a permanent basis.

Rumours of a two-year deal being struck with Waddo were said to be 'untrue' by the caretaker boss who has been given the reigns until the end of the season.

He hired McDonald, initially on a temporary basis but has now persuaded the former defensive hero to stay until May.

Waddock said: 'It's good news. I'd like the job full-time and I definitely want to have him alongside me.

'Originally he agreed to help out until March, but we sat down and talked about it and he'll be staying longer.'

Waddock also admitted that he really wanted the job full-time.

'If I'm offered the job I certainly won't turn it down,' Waddock admitted.

'But what happens in the longer term depends on the situation with Ian Holloway. He is still the manager of this football club.

'Until that changes, I'm working on a game-to-game basis and I'm pleased with the way things are going.'

We need to keep Macca and Waddo on, they're doing a great job at the club and we've picked up points from tough games. The style of play is refreshing too, we have footballers and we're using them well rather than lumping it up in the air and expecting Nygaard and Furlong to finish.
