Tommasi Debuts In Reserves Draw

Rangers reserves played out a scoring draw with Reading with former Italian international Damiano Tommasi featuring in the Rangers line-up.

Gareth Ainsworth`s men were without influential midfielder Hogan Ephraim who was on first team duty only yesterday, but with new boy Damiano Tommasi in search of some game time before he makes his first team debut it gave Ainsworth the opportunity to switch things around.

Reading visited Loftus Road with a comparably experienced outfit included first team pro`s such as Leroy Lita, record signing Kalifa Cissé as well as Graeme Murty, Brynjar Gunnarsson and Sam Sodje.

QPR took the lead early in the second period when some naivety in the Reading defence saw Adam Bolder with acres of space ahead of him on the halfway line. The midfielder who gave manager Iain Dowie food for thought throughout the encounter laid a splendid pass into Samuel Di Carmine, and the loan striker struck once again.

The Italian on loan from Fiorentina powered the ball past Mikkel Anderson for the opener. The loan forward now has three in three for the R`s reserves as he pushes for a place in the first team squad for the forthcoming fixtures against Norwich City on Wednesday and Coventry City on Saturday.

Rangers looked to be cantering to victory as they created chances at will, and tested an experienced Reading side on numerous occasions. Live-wire winger Romone Rose tested the resolve of the Royals defence with a number of tricky runs.

However the Royals were not to be denied and shortly after Kamdjo hit the post, record signing Kalifa Cissé rose unmarked in the area to nod home a last minute equaliser. Harsh on Rangers young guns who continue undefeated.

Subs not used: Bulmer, Wright, Arthur, Maguire.
