'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Jewell Hits Out At R`s Chiefs

Derby boss Paul Jewell was left disappointed at Rangers decision to increase the prices for the Rams fixture.

Jewell who picked up his first away win with Derby in W12 at the weekend hit out at the money men in football, saying that it is increasingly difficult for the man on the street to attend the games,

'I was fully behind Derby's protest at the pricing." said Jewell,

'Fifty quid is a lot of money. Football in general, I think it's too expensive for the man in the street."

'Hopefully people will be sensible."

"We want to see full grounds. Certainly in this day and age when people are struggling for cash it would be nice if people could make football a bit more affordable for the normal guy in the street."

Jewell has shown his concern about the spiralling prices, which has come to prominence at Rangers most recently, believing that we are bleeding fans dry,

'We have American owners so I'm not going to slate foreign owners, but what I would say is we have to be careful."

'Whoever owns the club has to be in contact with the people who come through the turnstiles - supporters are the lifeblood of a football club."

'Derby fans have been brilliant with me, and hopefully a few more wins like this will make the money that they pay worthwhile. But we can't just keep on bleeding fans dry - we've got to give them something back otherwise we'll drive them into the pubs and they'll watch on TV.'

In the modern price structure in particular at QPR, it seems we are as Jewell say driving people out of seats and into arm-chairs. Unfortunately we have very wealthy but unsympathetic owners when it comes to the views of the fans.
