'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Ainsworth Praises Dowie

Gareth Ainsworth was delighted with his sides result against Reading this weekend, but was quick to praise former boss Iain Dowie.

Rangers managed to keep a clean sheet to break Reading`s 100% record at the Madejski Stadium. A strong team performance earnt Ainsworth`s side a share of the spoils, something that he attributes to former boss Iain Dowie:

'The work ethic of the players was instilled by Iain, and today they showed just what they are capable of.

'I spoke with Iain yesterday. He wished me luck, and I've got a lot of respect for him. I learnt so much from him."

While the R`s picked up a useful point Ainsworth admitted that he is glad to see the back of a turbulent week in W12:

'This result marks a pleasing end to a difficult week,

'I can't describe the emotions running through my body right now, they're probably more powerful than anything I ever experienced as a player.

'I am so proud of the lads and every single fan who was here this evening to back the team. They sang their hearts out.

'Some of the Reading players told me afterwards that we were the best team they have played here all season, which was great to hear.

'We could have nicked it, but I think a draw was a fair result.

'Now I find myself in the position of Caretaker Manager and I am going to give it my all, and do the best I can for this Football Club.'

With Gareth Ainsworth as the caretaker boss you`d expect something akin to I have a dream emanating from the dressing room, but he revealed that nothing was planned in advance for an all important team-talk.

'I didn't have a speech prepared for them. I just said what I felt at that time.

'And I can't have wished for a better response from every single one of them.'

Rangers now face Birmingham City on Tuesday night, as they round off the month with the same fixture they started, which will be a good yard stick to see how far Rangers have gone either way.

Ainsworth wants the supporters to continue their outstanding support:

'I just hope the fans come out in their numbers for the game,'

'Let's get the place rocking and see what we can do!'
