Purse Red Card Rescinded

Cardiff City appealed to the Football Association of Wales having felt very hard done by on Saturday.

Even Gareth Ainsworth admitted, after the game, that he felt the sending off was harsh:

"I thought it (the sending off) looked harsh and I told Dave Jones and Darren that," Ainsworth told QPR.co.uk.

Probert issued the card following a lunging tackle on winger Lee Cook. It was issued for dangerous play.

Now the Welsh F.A. have overturned Purse`s red card and, with it, the three match suspension which would have begun this coming Saturday against Crystal Palace.

My only thoughts on the matter, not having seen the tackle clearly as it was nearer to the Ellerslie Road stand, and I sit in the South Africa Road stand, and it was not very clear on television; is that QPR should have appealed to the Welsh F.A. against Mikele Leigertwood`s red card issued by Stuart Attwell in the game against Birmingham!

It seems somewhat like "having your cake and eating it": Cardiff play in the English league but can appeal to the Welsh F.A. when they don`t like something! Hmmm?!!!

I can honestly say its a hindrance to have it seen by the FAW - some crazy decisions have been made, including upholding a ban on McPhail for a punch when he was walking away from the incident! I agree its stupid, and FAW is based on politics not footballing reasons.

It doesn't look very good, I must say - but I'm glad for Darren Purse coz I didn't see it as a "red" on Saturday. At least some type of justice has been done ;-)
