Balanta Sent Out On Loan

Angelo Balanta has made a loan switch to League Two outfit Wycombe Wanderers.

The two-month deal will take the young Colombian into the New Year completing on January 14, giving the Chairboys an opportunity to extend the deal to the end of the season.

Gareth Ainsworth believes it`s a step in the right direction for the talented prospect:

'This move will be a valuable part of Angelo's development as a professional footballer.

'Some of the best players in the current England squad, including David Beckham and Rio Ferdinand, were loaned out to lower League sides in the early part of their careers and the positives far out-weigh the negatives.

'It will be greatly beneficial for him to play for a Wycombe side currently flying high at the top of League Two.'

The deal has a 24 hour call-back stipulation, with Balanta unable to feature for Wycombe in the FA Cup.

The young Colombian, compared by co-owner Flavio Briatore to Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher, has been a revelation in the reserves and his appearances in the first team squad have promised much.

In seven appearances this campaign, Balanta has bagged two goals. Firstly on his first start of the season in the League Cup against Swindon Town, then opening the scoring for the R`s against Nottingham Forest in the Championship more recently.
