Rangers Shock Move For Brazilian?
Rumour surrounds QPR once more, this time it doesn`t concern the managerial position, but the ever growing midfield department.
Manchester City midfielder Elano has been the subject of an audacious loan bid from Queens Park Rangers, as they look to lure the discontented midfielder away from Eastlands.
The Daily Mail carried the story today stating that Rangers would pick up a big portion of the Brazilian`s wages in a bid to persuade Mark Hughes to let him go.
On Saturday the midfielder was fined a weeks wages for airing his discontent at the team`s current plight and his lack of input on proceedings on the field. Presumably this is where a journalist`s creativity has fashioned this latest rumour.
Elano started his career with native Gurani FC before making the move to Brazilian giants SC Internacional, after which he moved to Santos, who he helped to league titles in 2002 and 2004.
The Brazilian bagged 33 goals in 131 appearances with several clubs in Europe casting an eye over the young talent, before he was eventually snared by Ukranian side Shakhtar Donetsk.
In the same year he was capped by Brazil for the first time, but it was not until after the 2006 World Cup that he began to hold down a regular place as new coach Dunga began to look to the future.
He scored twice in Brazil`s 3-0 win over Argentina at the Emirates Stadium that September and continued to shine for Shakhtar in the Champions League.
After playing four times for Brazil in their 2007 Copa America winning campaign, Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson made a move to sign Elano in the Manchester City revolution, which has moved into its current guise present day.
