Helguson Deal Confirmed

Queens Park Rangers have confirmed the deal for Icelandic international Heidar Helguson.

In an interview with the Bolton Wanderers forward, the striker makes no reference as to what has become an on-off transfer saga in recent weeks, but it states he is raring to go for Saturday against Crystal Palace.

He told QPR.co.uk:

'This is a good opportunity for me to play some First Team football,

'I need to be playing regular football and hopefully I'll get the chance to do that here.

'When QPR showed their interest in me, I didn't hesitate in making the move.'

'I've been brought here to score goals,

'Of course it could take time to settle, like it does at any Club, but I am confident I can produce the goods for QPR.'

Heidar will wear shirt number 27 which had previously been established, but the machinations behind the deal were believed to be the stumbling block as he hasn`t featured for the R`s in two games since his signature was announced a week ago tomorrow.

There has been no confirmation as to when the deal runs to as the initial deal announced by the club, stipulates he is a Rangers player until the end of January.

Helguson started his career with Lillestrom in Norway, before this weekend`s opponents Watford brought him over to England.

He made 174 league appearances for the Hornets over five years at Vicarage Road, before making the switch to Premier League Fulham for £1.3m.

Two years at Craven Cottage passed with 11 Premier League goals in 57 appearances for the Whites, before Heidar moved north with Bolton Wanderers. Just over a year with the Trotters has yielded limited opportunity for the experienced international, who has made only seven Premier League appearances.
