Rs v Burnley in the FA Cup 3rd Round

QPR have been handed a home tie in the 3rd round of the FA Cup against fellow Championship rivals, Burnley.

This will be an early chance for Sousa and the boys to gain revenge over Burnley for the recent 1-2 home defeat by the Clarets.

Burnley's record in the FA Cup does not make for happy reading. They won the Cup in 1914, beating Liverpool 1-0. The game was played at Crystal Palace.

Last season, Burnley lost 2-0 at home to Arsenal in the 3rd round of the Cup; whilst Rangers were losing away 1-0 to Chelsea.

In 2006/07, Burnley lost away to Reading, 3-2, in the 3rd round. That year, Rangers lost 1-0 away to Luton in a replay, having been held by the Hatters 2-2 at Loftus Road.

The previous season neither team were able to get past the 3rd round: Rangers losing 3-0 away to Blackburn whilst Burnley lost 2-1 at Derby.

Clearly both teams will feel the greatest of desires to proceed to the 4th round. Let us hope that it is QPR who are able to progress - although our home form against Burnley both this season and last suggest that home advantage will not be a forgone conclusion!

All 3rd round ties are to be played on the weekend of 3-4 January 2009.

Oh oh! Not a good draw, imo - we've not got a good home record against Burnley at the mo!!! Might as well have been drawn away to one of the "Big Four" - at least we would have had a fun day out & got some decent gate money for our troubles!!
