R's Shot Down By Four Star Town

A young Queens Park Rangers reserve side went down in emphatic fashion to Aldershot Town.

Gareth Ainsworth named first team trio Joe Oastler, Jake Cole and Matteo Alberti in his starting line-up, the former Chievo man returning from a ten week lay-off. The Shots included former Rangers attacking midfielder Scott Donnelly in their side along with former West Bromwich Albion forward Rob Elvins.

The Shots had the lead as early as the 14th minute as an excellent drive from the edge of the area from full back Jason Milletti after a short corner exposed some defensive gaps.

The second came five minutes before half time as midfielder Lewis Chalmers picked up on more hesitant defending to drill a shot home after more clever set-piece work.

Former Rangers midfielder Scott Donnelly dispatched a penalty for Town conceded by defender Daniel Bailey.

The rout was complete when Lewis Chalmers completed his brace in the latter stages giving Rangers youngsters food for though in a real learning curve.

Queens Park Rangers: Cole, Wright, Ilesanmi, Bailey (Ehmer), Ford, Oastler, Alberti, O'Brien (Sylvan-Vanterpool), German, Maguire (Smith), Flood.

Subs Not Used: Crowther, Waters.

Quite a heavy defeat for the youngsters - hopefully it doesn't demoralise them. Would be good to see Alberti back in the first team fray - one of the more impressive signings pre-season.
