Parkinson's Referee Fury

Charlton boss Phil Parkinson was left disgusted with the decision not to hand his side a penalty as the sides drew at the Valley.

Parkinson was fuming with referee Paul Taylor after failing to spot a penalty decision in the dying stages of the 2-2 draw.

He said: "It was after the third penalty appeal. I thought it was handball in the box and we didn't get it.

'Normally if three of those happen, you expect to get one of them and I felt the referee should have given us a penalty.

He told me he'd disallowed their goal but everyone could see Dexter Blackstock had held Martin Cranie on the floor so I'm not giving him too much credit for that. I felt we should have had a penalty and that's what I was frustrated with."

Parkinson was proud of his side`s performance as they transformed from relegation candidates in the first half, to what he believed were a top half team.

He said: "In the first half I felt we were tentative; we were on the back foot and gave them too much time on the ball and there wasn't a competitive edge about our play.

'We looked like a team in the bottom three but in the second half we looked like a team who were in the top half of the table and we were excellent."
