Rehman Thrown Out Of Platinum Bar!

VitalQPR member, Number8buser, had a very different experience whilst trying to warm up in the Platinum Bar at half-time of Saturday`s match against Coventry City.

He saw Zesh Rehman, recently returned to Rangers after a disappointing loan period at Blackpool, try to get into the Platinum Bar, along with another player. (Number8 confessed to me that he didn`t recognise the other player!!)

For those of you unfamiliar with the procedure for Platinum ticket holders, you must produce your season ticket booklet, or ticket stub, which clearly shows your "Platinum" status. Without said ticket, the twocharming officials on the door of the Platinum Bar will absolutely not let you enter. It doesn`t matter how hard you beg, plead, shout, cry or even threaten - they just will not let you into that bar area without a valid entry pass.

I saw a Platinum season-ticket holder throw a "wobbly" last week (Burnley FA Cup game) because he didn`t have his booklet with him and, because he had failed to buy his seat for the FA Cup and could only get a Gold ticket, those officials wouldn`t let him into the Platinum Bar. He tried to dodge past the officials, one of whom followed him into the Bar and proceeded to frog-march him out just as he was about to order his pint!

Back to yesterday! Zesh comes to the door and tries to get inside the Bar. He and his mate managed to get into the Bar and were actually standing next to our very own Number8buser. But then, all hell broke loose!

The officials didn't like the fact that non-Platinum members were in the Bar. So they went to Zesh and demanded he and his colleague leave the Bar immediately. Zesh explained that he is, in fact, a QPR player. But that didn`t wash with the official. He just wasn`t interested!

No matter what Rehman said or did, he wasn`t going to be staying in the Bar any longer. Fans inside the Bar, including Number8 himself, started calling out to the officials that Rehman was indeed a player and they should let him stay. The officials wouldn`t budge and so Rehman and his mate were frog-marched out of the Bar and had to go elsewhere in the ground for their half-time beverage! As Number8buser eloquently summed it up "they got slung out - you couldn't make that up!"

And whilst we are onto anecdotes about the game yesterday - how about some of the Platinum season ticket holders who, after Fox scored for Coventry, were so incensed that they stood up and hurled abuse at Gianni Paladini. The gist of their anger and frustration was the quality of players being bought by the Club, apparently on the say-so of our Sporting Director, one Mr Gianni Paladini.

These fans had just witnessed Heidar Helguson send the ball off for a throw-on to Coventry when standing in or around the penalty spot; instead of planting the ball in the back of Coventry`s net - which seemed the easier option considering that he is (a) a striker and (b) in front of goal virtually one-on-one with the goalie! They were very annoyed!

I have to say, though, their frustration petered out pretty quickly - and was re-directed at the team once Dex equalised for us, as they urged the Rs on to a last-gasp winner. But it was a bit different for Flavio Briatore!

When Helguson missed that golden opportunity (not the first he missed yesterday afternoon - a bad day at the office for our newly acquired striker!), Briatore threw his hands up in disgust and ran up the stairs of the Directors` Box and straight out of the Box! Clearly he was not happy with that display of ineptitude either. Briatore did return, a few minutes later, to sit in the front row so I am pleased to say that he was around to witness our equaliser!!

Thanks for this Number8 - seems I missed a lot by staying outside wrapped up in my blanket!

Hillarious and as much i would have loved to see it, I cant help thinking that the only news coming out of our club that makes me smile is just another incident making our club look silly.

Just another incident in which QPR is like your Grandma, means well but just doesn't get it right!
