Galactico Admits Rangers Link

Real Madrid defender Michel Salgado admits meeting with Rangers chiefs in the summer and refuses to rule out a move to England in the future.

The former Queens Park Rangers target has shed some light on rumours linking him with a move to W12 in the summer, indicating that it wasn`t as cut and dry and most expected.

Salgado spoke to Sky Sports programme Revista de la Liga.

He said: "Yes, I had a meeting with the owners of QPR, but also because they are friends of mine. We met on holiday in Vigo. They told me amongst other things about their goal of getting QPR into the Premier League.

"But for me it would be very difficult to leave Madrid. I have spent the last ten years here and things are going well. But if there is one league that I would like to play in before I retire it would be the English league, otherwise I would like to finish my career in the Middle East.

"But look, it would be very difficult to see myself wearing any other shirt than that of Real Madrid, I have been here for many years and would very much like to retire here. At the time of the meeting my decision was to stay here,"

Then in a tantalising statement the 33 year old indicated that one day he may want to play in England should the right offer come in come in combined with the aforementioned timing.

He continued: "I am not sure if that moment has passed me by,

"That is the question. For me the English league is a great league to be part of as a player.

"In terms of the level of football and atmosphere it is fantastic. There is a great football culture there and I like the way the players are treated in England. I think that there is a whole list of things that make it an attractive league to any player."

Salgado has made 244 appearances for the Spanish giants Real Madrid scoring four goals. He is billed as a combative full back with attacking tendencies, which at present would suit the R`s down to the ground.

Interesting how close we came to signing some real talent in Salgado, maybe it'll come round again..

So its alright for you to sign Galaticos with your mega rich owner, but not for City. When you get back into the top flight and start splashing the cash and you will, I hope you will get a better deal for the press than we have been getting lately.
Buzz Lightyear
The difference being, he would only come on our terms - hence why he isn't here. We weren't willing to pay over the odds for someone, and we didn't get him so we move on.
Boxer
Boxer, thats what we wanted but when it actually comes down to it, they know you have money and you end up paying OTT. With your transfers now are you paying just a little bit more than you thinbk the player is worth? Now Uefa are looking into putting a ceiling onto transfers and wages based on 51% of your turnover. Conspiracy theory, they don't want competition. Not that I think they would get this one through the rules, but they are trying.

Difficult in this window anyway, ask us.
