'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sousa Praises The Fans!

In his post-match interview, Paulo Sousa could not hide his pride not just at his team, but at the Rs fans.

The conditions were appalling - which is to be expected, let`s face it - it was, after all, a Tuesday night away game in January, it just had to be appalling weather!

It was cold and wet & there was no cover over the stand. What am I talking about - there was no stand! The seats were soaking wet so the fans had to stand throughout the match (lucky there weren`t any over-officious stewards who tried to insist on everyone sitting down, as I`ve seen at many away games this season!!)

And yet, 202 QPR fans schlepped north regardless to cheer on the lads, and this did not go unnoticed by the gaffer:

"I`m delighted for them and for everyone connected with to QPR. They, like the team, did everything to the highest level, cheering their hearts out for 90 plus minutes," Sousa remarked to QPR.co.uk

"They were a credit to the Club, as were the players, and it`s a great night for us," Sousa concluded.

What I want to know is did Paulo Sousa know that Sporting Director, Gianni Paladini, was one of those fans cheering his heart out for the lads, whilst getting soaked in the pouring rain? Because, it seems, he was!

A reliable informant, Hydehoop, said: "Credit to GIANNI PALADINI who was stood behind me getting soaked in the away end instead of in the dry director`s box. He went nuts when we scored our third and was straight on the phone - to who I don't know. FLAVIO perhaps!"

Yeah saw Gianni at the end of the game - credit to him. Even if it is a PR stunt, its a hell of a lot easier to stand there for five minutes with cameras pointed at you, than doing it with the fans for the 90. WELL DONE GP!

PR stunt - I'd prefer to have to do my stunts in the dry & warmth, wouldn't you? He may be badly maligned (I hold my hand up) but one thing I can say, he is a truly dedicated fan - jumping up & down and getting agitated just like the rest of us! But to stand in the rain for 90 minutes - nutters, like the rest of you guys who went!! Seriously - I salute you all. Dedication above & beyond ;-)
