López Is A Ranger

Spanish midfielder Jordi López signs permanently for QPR today following his release from Mallorca.

Jordi López comes to Rangers with a wealth of experience in Spanish football having played for both Real Madrid and Barcelona B sides.

The 27-year-old midfielder signed for Sevilla in 2004 and played a part in their UEFA Cup winning campaign scoring two goals in 37 appearances for the Andalucian side.

In 2006 López joined Real Mallorca, but was loaned out to Real Santander where he was mainly used as a substitute in his 14 appearances with Racinguistas.

After 24 appearances without scoring Mallorca released the midfielder seeing him come to England in search of regular first team football. He failed trials with Premier League sides Portsmouth and Blackburn Rovers before failing a medical to join Birmingham City in the January transfer window.

He joins Rangers on a three-month deal and is billed as central midfield that can also play out wide.

López occupies the number 20 shirt vacated by Emmanuel Ledesma.

Sousa's first signing - his early track record bodes well, and Alex McLeish is no mug at picking a player either - even if he can't make them play.
