'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Mikele: Rangers Can Do A Palace

Mikele Leigertwood believes that the current Rangers squad can emulate his old Crystal Palace side a few seasons ago and get to the Premier League.

The combative midfielder spoke to QPR.co.uk about the focus of the current Rangers crop and sees distinct similarities between the R`s and his former Eagles.

He said: 'I can definitely see similarities between the way we're going and how we fared at Palace a few years ago,

'Consistency and confidence are hugely important in football and whilst we've always had the latter, we've shown in recent weeks that we're capable of stringing together a long unbeaten run too.

'Every one of us is focused on the task in hand and the challenge that lies ahead - we're all in it together and the belief within the squad is massive.'

The manager that took the Eagles to the promise land was former R`s boss Iain Dowie who was given his marching orders earlier this season. Gareth Ainsworth was the man in caretaker charge of Rangers as they were defeated at Portman Road.

Leigertwood spoke prior to this weekend`s fixture against Ipswich Town live on Sky believing that Rangers are going out to win in style.

He continued: 'It's a hugely important fixture for us,' he told

'Ipswich are a very good side, who are playing well on their travels this year, but we're at home and we'll be going out to win the match in style.

'We need to beat the sides around us and that starts Saturday. We expect to beat teams at Loftus Road and our home form is mightily impressive this season.'

Rangers have incurred only one defeat in 13 games and are currently seeking to extend their run nine games unbeaten.

Leigertwood is confident in Rangers are in a strong position and tips them to make it the 'Perfect 10` unbeaten this weekend.

He said: 'Obviously we want to keep the run going, to keep us in and amongst it,' he said.

'We haven't played for a while and have dropped a few places in the table as a result, but in general the results involving the teams around us haven't been too bad and we're still in a very strong position.

'We've got a tough trip to Cardiff next week and another away match at Barnsley next weekend, so it's a massive stage of the season for us.'
