Sousa - Every Mistake Punished

Paulo Sousa was left disappointed with the R`s away defeat against Doncaster Rovers last night.

Speaking to the BBC in the wake of another disappointing defeat Sousa concedes that his side is being punished for every error.

He said: 'It's not a nice moment for us. It's a difficult moment because each mistake we make we are being penalised for.

'Until the moment they scored the first goal we controlled the game. And then you get a little bit down, you concede the second goal also with another mistake and then it's difficult.

'If you want to achieve the project of the board - the Premier League - you need players who have a lot of personality. It's a good moment to analyse that.'

A rather tantalising statement at the end suggests further player turnover to come in the summer if not sooner in the wake of yet another disappointing display and defeat.

That makes it eight games without a win, three games without a goal and four defeats in six games - not an ideal record to take into a game against a resurgent Southampton side at the weekend.

A performance that was an advert for a striker. Crosses going in - three or four players in the box not challenging for the ball. None of the scapegoats at fault last night, Ramage, Cerny, Mahon - it was all down to the likes of blue-eyed boy Dexter Blackstock for not taking some simple chances.

That's a very depressing record to take away to St Mary's! I just hope, as I've been saying for days, weeks & months now (since last Summer, to be precise) that the Board digs deep for at least one, if not two, proper strikers - that is, players who will PUT THE BALL IN THE NET . . . (anyone out there listening?!))

We've always turned in a good display at St Mary's. Kelvin Davies is a legend.
