Sousa's position not at risk

Sousa's position not at risk

The following is a translation of an article that first appeared on the web site of the portuguese football journal 'A Bola on line' late on Friday last week.

Even with Queen's Park Rangers in the middle of the Championship league table, the Portuguese coach Paulo Sousa did not feel his position is at risk and says the aim is to create a solid team to fight for promotion to the top flight of English football next season.

'From the outset, the objective was to prepare a solid team for next season and then struggling to climb up the Championship. My contract is not only for this season. The owners bought the club two years ago with the aim of fighting for promotion to the top flight in the third season," recalled Paulo Sousa, who took command of the technical team last November.

The London team currently occupies the 11th place of the Championship and is increasingly further from the possibility of securing a place in the play-offs:

'Today the team is in the middle of the table without some major players who are injured. In pre-season, when they are recovered, we will reflect on the need to make a step forward. The aim is to start well next season and keep us on top of the table until the end.'

2016/17 Transfer Deadline - A Few Days Remain

Well it's almost that time of the year again, only a final few days to go before the closure of the summer transfer window for 2016/17, and with the international break...

Lap of Onuoha

A NEDUM Onuoha strike early in the second half saw Queens Park Rangers edge out Wigan Athletic in a fairly nondescript affair at the DW Stadium.

A game that never really got going was settled early in the second period when the Latics failed to clear a set-piece and the QPR skipper powered home from just inside the area.

Both sides created half chances but never really got out of first gear - with Grant Hall in particular a rock throughout to snuff out an endless array of Luke Garb
