Bristol City boss Gary Johnson bemoaned two decisions by referee Mr Hegley as his side crashed to defeat in W12.
Johnson`s side were outclassed in the second period as goals from Jordi López and Adel Taarabt cancelled out an equaliser from Michael McIndoe.
However the Bristol City boss believed that his side should have had two penalties for alleged fouls on Dele Adebola and Nicky Maynard with the former booked for diving likewise Taarabt moments earlier.
'I think they were both penalties,' Johnson told BCFC.co.uk
'We'll have to see them again on the video, but I'm sure you'll see they were both fouled.
'Both Dele and Nicky are really disappointed with the decisions, especially Dele. I think the referee had the early decision in his mind.'
Rangers now move to within two points of the Robins as they in turn drop points in their playoff race. The result today, Gary Johnson believed, dented City`s top six aspirations.
'I didn't think we had a good day and there wasn't enough quality. We lumped it a little bit, got it forward hoping to get something.
'In the final third we didn't really create enough, apart from the goal, to score twice. We're all really disappointed.
'We've got two weeks to turn that around, but today we didn't do enough. We didn't do anywhere near enough.
'We've got liven ourselves up, I've got to liven myself up. That didn't look like one of my teams out there today.'
Bristol City will have a wait on their hands to dish out some revenge with their evening kick off against Preston North End having to wait until after the international break.
