Dexter Joins Forest on Loan

Striker Dexter Blackstock has joined struggling Nottingham Forest on loan for the rest of the season in order to help their fight against relegation.

Dexter started his career with Southampton in 2003 scoring 4 goals in 28 appearances before being loaned out to Plymouth and Derby County in 2005.

The purchase of Bradley Wright Phillips by George Burley led to him leaving the Saints in August 2006 after they accepted Garry Wadock`s bid of around £500,000.

The 2006/07 season saw Dexter starting as the main striker for the R`s and he formed a great understanding with the late Ray Jones. As the season progressed Dex`s form got better and better, and many commented on his work rate during this period, as he ended the season as top scorer at the club with 14 goals in 40 games.

2007/08 saw him only score 6 times in 27 games, and this season he had scored 12 goals in 29 games.

As an almost first choice starter under Iain Dowie he found himself only on the fringes following the arrival of Paulo Sousa, He had agreed terms over a long-term deal in January but the deal was called off without him putting pen to paper and his future has since been in doubt. Rowan Vine's return from a broken leg looked to be another barrier to him getting a first-team run-out and with Sousa keen to sign at least one striker this summer, Blackstock's future at Loftus Road was looking bleak.

Forest manager, Billy davies has been a long time admirer of Blackstock and is delighted at securing his services, and told the Forest website that "I'm sure he will prove to be a great acquisition. It's no secret that we have been looking for a certain type of striker and Dexter certainly fits that bill."

Forest's interest in the striker was broken exclusively on Vital QPR back on March 11

Dex will meet his new team mates on Monday.

You may be bitterly disappointed, although he has scored some crucial goals for Rangers. Cue him now saying I love Forest and come and get me, a la Camp.
