Down at the training ground these days, it seems it is not just about training. There is some serious kit monitoring to add into the players` busy schedules.
Yesterday, the new home kit for 2009/2010, was unveiled. At first, I wondered if it was an April Fool`s joke - but no, we will be playing in white shorts next season and with a new, hooped shirt as well, it seems.
Akos Buzsaky, holding the new shirt for the world (well QPR World), and cameras, to see was the first to cast his verdict:
"I really like it," he admitted. "There is more white than this season. I think the style is more or less the same but you can see that it is really nice."
"You wear it for one year. So everybody`s looking forward to the new kit because you want to wear a nice and beautiful kit like this one. So then you are proud when you go out and everybody says 'Oh, they look good!`"
Cook confessed that he`d had a sneak preview: "I think it`s a lovely looking kit. The badge has come back into the middle. I tried it on the other day."
Worryingly, for all of us fans out there, who don`t have a slim and trim figure like the players, Cook also admitted the shirt was still tight-fitting:
"I`m glad they`ve kept it kind of tight-fitting as well. For the players to wear that type of shirt is good."
"I`m sure that when the parents go and buy their kids it, the kids will be having the white shorts as well," he added.
A Hoops fan himself, Cook thinks the Rs` faithful will appreciate the new kit: "It looks good and I`m sure the fans are gonna like it!"
Martin Rowlands, who won`t get to wear the new kit just yet, agreed that "it is a nice fighting kit and I`m sure it will look good."
"It`s obviously got the tradition of the hoops and it`s got that nice silver strip towards the top and we`ve gone back to the white shorts. Speaking to a few of the lads, as a kit we like to wear them. I`m sure we`ll look good in it when we`re playing in it next season!"
"It`s always nice when the kit is nice. It`s nice for the fans to buy a nice QPR kit. And it`s good for the Club to have a good-looking kit."
Our Kit Man, Gary Doyle, also offered his thoughts:
"Every year kits get better and better. I`m looking forward to next year`s kit. It`s really, really nice. Gone back to a lot more white in the kit, which obviously is the fans` favourite as well. White is a lot more bright and clean.
"Also gone back to the white shorts, which is a huge bonus," Doyle added.
"We`ve had good feedback from the players," Doyle divulged after listening in to the players` discussions in the dressing room!
"I think they`ve (Lotto, that is, not the players!) excelled themselves again. The amount of work that`s gone in behind the scenes, people on the ground and Lotto themselves. I think they`ve excelled themselves on top of last year`s shirt."
And then there was Cookie`s rather unsubtle plug! "Hopefully we can start the season on a storming run. And everyone`s got their new kits on in the stadium. I shall look for the fans to go and buy the kit and support the team!"
Well, throughout the article there was a banner running under the screen reminding us that the new kit will be available in the Superstore from Saturday 25th April 2009. Or you can pre-order you kit on-line at www.shop.qpr.co.uk - woops, am I plugging the new kit now myself?!
Well, I agree with Buzsaky`s sentiment: "Hopefully this can be a Premiership kit as well!" Wouldn`t we ALL like that?!!
Oh, and by the way, the socks are also hooped - white, blue, white, blue!
Well, I guess they have to wear the kit, after all! But so do we - so how about hearing the fans` thoughts, now we`ve heard the players`?!
We want to know YOUR thoughts!
