Another One Bites The Dust - Sousa Axed

Paulo Sousa has been sacked as manager of Queens Park Rangers - confirming weeks of speculation that his position was under threat.

The Sousa saga came to an end today (Thursday) after the club announced the decision to part ways with the Portuguese boss.

An official statement read: 'Queens Park Rangers Football Club has today (Thursday) had to terminate Paulo De Sousa's employment with the Club with immediate effect.

"It came to the Club's attention that Mr De Sousa had, without authority, divulged highly confidential and sensitive information. The Club, with legal advice, responded in this way to protect its position.

"Player / Coach Gareth Ainsworth will take Caretaker charge on a temporary basis, from now until the end of the season.'

Sousa was given just 23 league games in charge of the R`s - steering them to seven wins, 11 draws and five defeats, giving him a 30.43% win percentage.

Rangers now search for their third manager this campaign and fifth overall during the brief reign of Flavio Briatore.

Top of the Rangers hit list are reportedly Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson, Bristol City boss Gary Johnson and out-of-work manager Paul Ince.

Vital QPR would like to place on record their thanks to Paulo Sousa

I've no 'beef' with QPR, especially their fans... But as an outsider your club is becoming a bit of a joke. Which is a shame.

Don't like the news of the sacking, but as I posted on another site, the board had no choice. You cannot have a mole leaking information at any business and especially not when that mole is the manager. The board have just done what any other club or business would have done.

Interesting point QPR4ME - without a doubt Sousa was highly unprofessional - but it does happen up and down the country, they needed and excuse and he gave them one.

By the look of it, it also means that FB and co may well get away without paying up PS's contract, a breach of confidentialy is always a good excuse for a summary dismissal.

Without a doubt - and that's probably why they've done it - when people say we've sacked managers they'll look back and say "mutual consent" - Gigi and "confidentiality breach" - Sousa, to substantiate their arguments.

Ah well, life would be boring without QPR. Roll on the weekend and hopefully 6pts for GA between now and Monday evening.

That's the main thing - hopefully the fans get behind the side and GA rather than senselessly boo everything in sight. It's not the players' fault!

Going by the comments on the BBC site, there will certainly be some sort of protest on Monday. It won't change things, rather just annoy FB and for some that could be a very big mistake. As you say sticking with and supporting GA and the players is the better option.

The people that protest are probably the same folk that booed SDC at the last home game. Get a grip - they aint moving and if they do we've lost some serious financial backing. OK it's not ideal what we're going through but we'll lose our only chance of challenging for big honours for the first time in our history - I mean MAJOR honours. Flavio doesn't know what he's doing but I think a little more patience while he works out what he's doing wrong is required.

Briatore is in danger of destroying the club, it is all very well having money, but there is absolutely no common sense in the way he is running the club, he will notbe content until he is in the dug out, god help you...
