Sousa Departs - as viewed in Portugal

There are many articles appearing in the Portuguese media following the departure of one of their Golden Generation' from the Rangers hot seat. Part 1 of a review of some of these stories comes from EXPRESSO who ran this story, which is by far the most informative.

Paulo Sousa denies having disclosedhighly confidential information

The football coach Paulo Sousa, a former Portuguese international, denies having disclosed highly confidential and sensitive information as claimed by the Board of the English club Queens Park Rangers as a reason to sack him.

They were trying for some time to find a way for the unilateral termination of the contract with Paulo Sousa and using unethical methods, said the agency Lusa José Marinho.

Joseph Marino, who will address the Portuguese press on behalf of the Portuguese coach, said the pressure around Paulo Sousa lasted for some time and began recently with the loan of Dexter Blackstock to Nottingham Forest and culminated when he was relieved of his assistant Oliveira. The Directorate of the English club is based on breach of confidentiality to try and terminate the contract, but it is a ridiculous argument, because what happened is that the player was loaned by a decision and was the responsibility of the Directors having not consulted with Paulo and he was left in an uncomfortable position, said Joseph Marino.

At the time of loan to Nottingham Forest of Blackstock, Paulo Sousa would eventually be reduced to only one striker since, in addition to being without their best scorer, the squad was hit by a wave of injuries.

he basis of the complaint, is a press conference to preview a game, in which Paulo Sousa was asked about who took the decision to loan the player.

The decision is the directors and I respect that, said Joseph Marino, quoting the words of Paulo Sousa to British journalists, which, according to the consultant, was annoying to the the management of the club, who expected that the coach would assume the paternity of the decision.

With the extreme positions, José Marino revealed that Paulo Sousa will seek to resolve the situation in court and to this end they have already hired an English lawyer, and should remain in England to the end of the season for personal reasons, family and follow-up .

The Portuguese coach has signed a contract last November that included this season and one more and was even given the option of three more.

At least a year and a half they will have to pay. They have nothing to argue and the accusation is ridiculous and we will dismantle it easily, said the advisor to Paul Sousa.

José Marinho said that at the moment, he and Paulo Sousa are able to see what can be said, and so the Portuguese will not provide technical explanations on the case.

This recent decision of the Directorate of Queens Park Rangers has not been received well by the supporters of the club, with a recent report of the Sky Sports television showing the dissatisfaction of some fans, who showed a promise of action in the next game at home, when the Queens receive Monday to Sheffield Wednesday.

Even the conversations in blogs give account of dissatisfaction about the decision, both for fans of the club, and of some other clubs.

What a joke. Sousa was the best thing that happened in the past years. He really seemed to worry and said that the players loved playing for him, said Neil Barnes, of the fan club, in comment on Sky Sports.

Among the various comments about the continuity of the Portuguese coach, the highlight was from a fan of Nottingham Forest, Ben Blockley, who expressed his surprise for a club to loan its best scorer.

The Board of Queens Park Rangers announced Thursday the dismissal of Paulo Sousa and technical of the club, accusing the Portuguese of disclosing highly confidential and sensitive information.

In a communiqué issued at the web site, says the London club had to end today (Thursday) the employment of Paul de Sousa in the club with immediate effect.

It had come to the attention of the club that Mr. Sousa had, without authority, disclosed highly confidential and sensitive information'
justified the club.

Gareth Ainsworth will temporarily replace Paulo Sousa until the end of the season.

Paulo Sousa debuted with a victory in November 24 but never managed to pass the middle of the table and continues outside the promotion.

In 26 games, he managed just seven wins, and will now miss the final five games of the season.
