Flavio Briatore has taken at pay-cut at Renault as part of a cost-cutting measure for the Formula One team.

The Queens Park Rangers co-owner has seen his salary with the Formula One team cut by a fifth in response to the credit crunch he revealed to Reuters today (Friday).

He said: 'We are cutting the costs in the entire team, not just my salary,' Briatore told a news conference after practice at the Bahrain Grand Prix.

'The top people, myself and (technical director) Bob Bell and (engineering head) Pat Symonds have a cut of about 20 percent,

'The second level (of staff) have cut 10 percent and everybody else has a cut of five percent.'

Poor Flav, I'm sure he can afford it. Guess where I was tonight, along with my wife... "The look and the sound of the voice, aah, aah, aah, aaaahh" Will answer in the Springbok at lunchtime.

his activities at renault have nothing to do with what he does at QPR

Well I think there are some links however tenuous - if there are rumours, unconfirmed, that he will retire from F1, this may well be a catalyst..

I can't see that a pay cut would make him decide to leave F1. If he did, it would be so he could devote more time to his coaching badge.

Oh ImSitiv! That's low, lol - Surely he doesn't need a coaching badge, when they ask if he has the qualifications he'll hold whoever is 'head coach' infront of him at the time...
