Today, young reserve goalkeeper, Reece Crowther, had his contract cancelled by mutual consent, as the clear-out at QPR gets under-way.

Crowther, a 21-year-old Australian, did not feature for the first team this season. He did, however, play for the Reserves on a fairly regular basis since joining in the summer of 2006.

The Club have thanked Crowther - so one has to assume that there is no hidden agenda here!

With Jake Cole out on loan at Barnet and Lee Camp kicking his heels - sometimes in the Reserves and sometimes not even there - it seems that a radical change is taking place at QPR. At least, that is, so far as goalkeepers are concerned.

We can only hope and trust that there is a plan to bring in a keeper deemed worthy of being number 2 to current number 1, Radek Cerny.

Time will tell!

I am disappointed I have got to say, this lad looked like a proper keeper, not your average youth team goalkeeper who needs time to fatten up. His physique was as good as if not better than Cerny and I think he'll make it in league football.

I must admit while Elvijs is undoubtedly a good keeper a lot of supporters are pinning their hopes on a lad that is half the size of Crowther. I'm concerned he'll be bullied at this level.
