Damion Stewart has been selected in the Jamaica squad for the forthcoming CONCACAF Gold Cup.

The defender who was recently voted Player of the Year with link up with the Reggae Boyz as they look challenge the recent supremacy of four times winners, the United States of America.

The USA will be going for their third successive Gold Cup in the tournament which spans over 13 states during July (3-26).

The furthest Jamaica have progressed in the tournament was a third placed finish in 1993 and Damion will hope to help his side beyond that stage and into the final.

He is joined by Rangers target Darren Pratley as the campaign begins with a friendly against Haiti in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on May 23 with the Reggae Boyz look to take home the Gold.

Hope he does better than Danny Maddix, who only played one game for the country! And he was better!!

I think the selection policy has changed somewhat, Maddix would be captain nowadays I think! Even Richard Langley got a game a couple of years ago. It's a bit different with Damion also because he's born and bred. Also a lot of people forget John Barnes is the boss, someone reminded me a few weeks ago, I had to laugh!

He recommended Venezualan international Fernando de Ornelas to us - you'd be forgiven for not remembering him, he made one appearance and was booked against Oldham...
