Rs' Pitch Is Uprooted At Last!

Resurfacing has begun at Loftus Road to improve and enhance the existing pitch which, quite frankly, was an utter disgrace by the end of the 08/09 season!

The company directly responsible for our pitch, Sportsturf, are undertaking a £60,000 renovation the most significant of its kind since the pitch was laid 17 years ago, according to QPR.co.uk. It should result in a playing surface being vastly improved from the past few years.

The same treatment is to be undertaken at the Harlington Training Ground, which pitch was also in a terrible state by the end of the season and didn't impress many of the players. Matthew Connolly told me he did not look forward to training sessions on the Harlington pitch - let us hope that there is a notable improvement for the lads for next season!

There's a legend that there's a river running under the Ellersie Road stand, and our pitch "drains too well" - which causes a lot of issues..

Funny that the only waterlogged pitch LR had in recent years was when struggling Fulham were going through a bad run of form, conveniently the pitch wasn't deemed playable...

Funny that idea? I remember that when we went to plastice, it was suggested that there was a layer of ice about 18 inches below the surface that was left over from Rangers being forced to play games on a wet pitch in the 76/77 season, when the pitch was a bog, It then froze and the ice layer wasn't found unilt 1981, so am not sure about the river stuff. What I will say, is abouth bloody time! the bounce on our pitch hasn't been as bad since the dying days of the plastic pitch and the change cannot come a moment too soon!
