López In Limbo

Queens Park Rangers have announced they are to release five players, but Jordi López was not one of them.

QPR today (Tuesday) decided to cast off youth products Danny Maguire and Chris Arthur along with reserve goalkeeper Jake Cole, defender Zesh Rehman and least surprising of all Liam Miller.

Danny Maguire and Chris Arthur had been out on loan to Yeovil and Rushden & Diamonds respectively with a view to attaining permanent deals, but neither have come to fruition with the latter failing a trial with Lincoln City.

Moving into first team affairs and long-standing reserve goalkeeper Jake Cole never saw potential turn into first team appearances, having been kept out of the reckoning by two experienced keepers in Lee Camp and Radek Cerny. This now frees him up for his desired move to Barnet.

Zesh Rehman joined cash-strapped Rangers for a princely sum under the reign of Gary Waddock from West-London rivals Fulham in 2006 - but has failed to make the grade at QPR under a wealth of different bosses.

He was loaned out to Brighton & Hove Albion, Blackpool and Bradford City during his time in W12 and is expected to join up with Stuart McCall`s Bantams on reduced terms.

The final nail in the coffin was Liam Miller`s departure, one that we have read about and expected for some time. He signed a deal that was beneficial to both parties and lasted until the end of the present campaign - on hindsight it is QPR that have benefited.

Miller joined from Sunderland in January in a bid to impress and perhaps play Premier League football again next season. He didn`t do his ability justice and his fitness levels were highly questionable after being hauled off early in many games.

Jordi López, like Miller, signed a deal until the end of the campaign, but nothing has been made of any potential departure or anything spoken of a potential new deal - So what do we gather from this news? Your guess is as good as mine!

Can't argue about the players departing, particularly Miller. Would love to see Lopez given more time.

So would I QPR4ME - I hope they give him an extension. Can't argue about any of them. Feel for Cole I've got to say, he works hard and I hope he gets a top club.
Boxer
I hope they are waiting for the new manager to make a decision on Lopez.

We shall see, but whatever the reasoning they have kept him and windy has gone, which can only be a good thing!
