QPR Fail To Hit Target

Queens Park Rangers have fallen below the expectations that the hierarchy set at the start of the season.

You would be forgiven that the title itself alludes to Rangers profligate form infront of goal this campaign but they have missed a very different target all together, one that was set at the beginning of the campaign.

Radek Cerny revealed to the Kilburn Times back in February the following: 'Before the season began we were talking about the aim to take ten points from every six games. The manager hasn't said anything about how many points we need, but the chairman mentioned 77."

What is not clear from the Czech stopper`s statement is who exactly he is referring to when he says 'chairman`, evidently however a target of 77 points was set - and missed in quite dramatic fashion.

77 points this season would have seen QPR into fourth place, however they underachieved on the standards set by seven places and 16 points.

There are many reasons and theories hypothesised as to why they have underachieved this season, managerial turnover, the aforementioned wasteful form in front of goal - but the facts are laid bare for all to see, there has been a failure.

Damien Delaney`s brash honesty on how he thought the season went drew him plaudits at the loyalty evening, while several message boards have been a hive of activity to offer their own theories on why it hasn`t happened this season.

Sometimes it goes to show that while you can put a brave face on matters, the facts do not lie, and on this occasion Rangers can only hope for an improvement next season to hit somewhere near that lofty target.

Just goes to show the PR machine can only do so much - If you've failed this season say so, the fans would have a lot more respect for you if you just admitted there were failures!

Main reason was that we were pony for roughly 85% of the season, and that's being generous
