Queens Park Rangers have been made seventh favourite to lift the Coca Cola Championship next season.

Skybet have taken stock of QPR`s abject season and rethought last years predictions of favourites to sit behind a plethora of Championship talent next season.

Newcastle (9/2) and Middlesbrough (6/1) are two of the favourites as the Championship line-up was confirmed earlier today - and West Bromwich Albion are also sixes to repeat their feat at Loftus Road two years ago and lift the crown.

Below them are the aspiring Ipswich Town (10/1), rejuvenated under the guidance of former Manchester United and Celtic player Roy Keane - with defeated playoff sides Sheffield United and Reading both at twelves.

Then come Queens Park Rangers with 14/1, the bookies evidently reluctant to push them into the higher echelons until they see a new face installed and the colour of Mr Briatore`s cheque book.

Rangers are also 5/1 to win promotion outright - while these are more realistic odds than last season, do they reflect the situation at Loftus Road at present?

I think fives are worth a punt - who knows!
Boxer
Aaaahhh! Well, at least we're not firm favourites - and I guess it's better than the last few years, when we were firm favourites for relegation!
sandydl
Hey Sandy! I too like the idea of being the dark horse this year...
Boxer
So that's mid table nothingness again? Glad to see that your owners are splashing the cash around well.
BoothenP
That's exactly the kind of comment that gives us a bad reputation in the press - we are not splashing the cash around whatsoever, we are securing our financial future by not doing a Chelsea or what have you. I think our owners should be praised for that not derided.
Boxer
With a decent manager at the helm fives is indeed worth a punt.
M Os
It won't be Ketsbaia though MOs - Olympiacos now!
Boxer
I feel that those odds are far more realistic, I like the 5-1 against promotion bit. Newcatsle and M'boro are typical of the bookies, big names, so automatically short prices. For me, the smoggies are going to be a much bigger threat than the skunks who need to rebuild from the ground up. WBA will be threeabouts but still lack the goalscoring threat they had until they let Kevin Phillips leave. Ipswich could be interesting, but I worry about the bottler who's in charge, Reading look destined for a period of decline now that Coppell has gone. Sheff Utd will still be angry bullies who will moan about injustice etc so cannot be ruled out of the race and PNE will still be giants in physical terms and will have to be dealt with. Brizzle will start going backwards, but the Swans will be a nuisance, Cardiff though, I fear for. I think their time has come and gone and the PL vultures will pick off the cream of their players. As for the promoted sides, Leicester will be fine, potentially awkward, but not a real promotion threat, P'boro will be OK, nothing else, Scunny will struggle but may well stay up. Will wait and see until the squads/managers/budgets/ financial situations etc are known before offering anymore thoughts on next season.
QPR4Me
Quite an assessment QPR4ME, I think if Boro can keep hold of their youngsters they'll bounce back ahead of Newcastle. WBA may well lift the trophy because they know this league inside out - depends if Mowbray is enticed by Celtic or not...
Boxer
I wouldn't even stick a Lady on us unless we get in at least 2 half-way decent strikers
Guttermouth
Well I think Heidar will come good next season, and with Vine and Agyemang I think they will give us renewed options up front. I honestly do believe that! But agreed a couple more forwards will give us more options, competition for places and more importantly, GOALS!
Boxer
Very glass-three-quarters-full in my opinion there... Hell-guson couldn't score in the proverbial with a thousand pound note. He should be a reserve striker at best, kept at the club only to boost the spirits of the remaining strikers when they see they're nowhere near as bad as him.
Guttermouth
I think Helguson is a good player that's going through a bad patch - the goal he scored up at Blackpool showed me that he's a quality player. Dexter knocking them in off his backside was never proof of him being a good player. Heidar will come again, the fans just need to get behind the lad. He's been given so much unfair stick in my book.
Boxer
Well I happen to think Dexter's been given an unfair amount of stick by the other half of the fans. Hell-guson's goal return, never mind his lack of effort or understanding of the rules of offside, has been abysmal. One goal doesn't make a player, and if that one goal persuaded you that he's a good player somehow then what about Dexter's goal against Preston? And the fact that he's scored 30 goals in 109 games for us?? I think this club has treated him shabbily for his service and I hope he comes back to bite us on the proverbial for letting him go. (When he does eventually go, of course)
Guttermouth
Blackstock, while I think he is a talent in the making, is extremely lazy at best, and his command of the offside law is also pathetic. Dexter scored three goals since the turn of the year compared to Heidar's two - so there's not much in it really. I would punt for Heidar because he's not only done it before and is going through a blip but he genuinely cares, anyone who Ainsworth says is trying, is trying..
Boxer
Ainsworth doesn't have as much licence to be himself while under Flav's thumb and has to tow the party line. He even said that he thought last year was a successful season! Only Delaney and Vine have come out honestly and stated that last season was a failure. Not abject by any means but still disappointing.
