According to the Daily Express Middlesbrough left-winger Adam Johnson could be on the verge of a big money move to the Premier League.
Liverpool are the interested party in the former Watford loanee who has excelled despite Boro`s dismal run to Premier League relegation and who only has a year remaining on his current deal at the Riverside.
Other interested parties for the young winger include Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur as Boro look destined to lose one of their prize talents.
Former Arsenal forward Jeremie Aliadiere is the subject of interest from Fulham, but Steve Gibson will want them to double their £1.5m bid for the deal to come to fruition.
Other notable exits may include midfielder Gary O`Neill with Portsmouth looking to bring their former star back to Fratton Park. With the current managerial situation on the south coast potentially scuppering the deal Hull City, Stoke City and Birmingham City sit ready to pounce.
Steve Gibson has pledged that he will not stand in Stewart Downing`s way when the right offer comes in. With the midfielder currently sat on the sidelines with tissue and ligament damage to his foot Gibson expects the offers to come in as he steps up his progress.
He said: 'I know that he will eventually find it sad to leave his hometown club, and as long as he remains here he will continue to enjoy his football.
'If a big club comes in I have given Stewart my word that I will not stand in his way.'
In gloomy times on Tyneside it was news of a potential inclusion that made the Toon Army sit up and take notice. The Sunday Sun believed that Manchester United legend Paul Scholes was a target for Newcastle.
They face competition, according to the newspaper, from Bolton Wanderers and Stoke City.
A possible exit from St James` Park is Ireland international Damien Duff with more news outlets believing that Tottenham Hotspur are looking to lure him away from Tyneside following the collapse of a deal for Middlesbrough`s Stewart Downing.
Forest have looked to swoop on Southampton`s downfall by eyeing the capture of promising forward David McGoldrick. The striker has been subject to a bid of £1m from Billy Davies and looks one of several strikers set to move to the City Ground.
It is also believed that Bristol City striker Dele Adebola could be making the move to Nottingham as the reds offer him his coveted two year deal.
Adebola has been linked with several clubs following his announcement to leave Ashton Gate via the bosman ruling. Queens Park Rangers were thought to be in the running but it appears Davies has managed to snare the 33-year-old striker.
Championship new boys Scunthorpe United bounced back to the league at the first attempt and one of the players that helped them to reach the second tier is rumoured to be in Nigel Adkins` sightlines for a permanent switch to Glanford Park.
Liam Trotter has yet to discuss a new offer with Ipswich boss Roy Keane, but Adkins is hopeful of signing the young talent regardless of the outcome of these talks.
Also lined up for a move is talented Stockport County youngster Ollie Johnson who has also courted the interest of Premier League Fulham. The 21-year-old who has previously been on trial with West Bromwich Albion is also a target for Huddersfield Town and Leeds United.
The Blades are going to face a battle to hold on to their key assets after missing out on promotion to the Premier League. Full back Kyle Naughton is attracting interest from several Premier League club according to the Daily Mirror.
The Blades youth product is a target for Aston Villa, Bolton Wanderers and cup finalists Everton with a fee around £2.5m with add-ons believed to be enough to capture the talented prodigy.
The Sunday newspapers are also linking United with move for highly-rated Leeds United forward Jermaine Beckford. The transfer-listed striker has attracted interest from Coventry City and Queens Park Rangers but this deal would see the whites get Blades flop Billy Sharp in return.
Wednesday face competition to keep their goalkeeper Lee Grant despite the fact he has just penned a new deal at Hillsborough.
Premier League new boys Birmingham City are looking to overhaul their goalkeeping set-up with both Maik Taylor and Colin Doyle linked with moves away from St Andrews and the former Derby County keeper could fit the bill as a suitable replacement.
The Swans may be in the market for a new manager should rumours concerning the future of boss Roberto Martinez be factual.
The Spaniard is being linked with the vacant positions at both Celtic and Wigan Athletic with Gordon Strachan departing a week ago and Steve Bruce reaching an agreement to move to Sunderland.
There is some slightly better news on the horizon for fans of the Welsh club with former Hearts winger Salius Mikoliunas linked with a move to the Liberty Stadium. It remains to be seen whether this deal will come to fruition should Martinez depart for pastures new.
Latvian Aleksandrs Cauna wants to return to Watford after a successful loan spell towards the end of last season. The winger on loan from Skonto Riga would like to make his switch to Vicarage Road permanent but it remains to be seen how much the country`s capital side would command for his signature.
Possibly leaving the Vic could be young forward Theo Robinson after Southend United made a six-figure offer for his services believed to be in the region of £100,000.
The young talent who impressed while on loan with Hereford has never truly made the breakthrough at Watford. Swindon Town are also rumoured to be in the frame for his capture.
A big name move could be in the frame for the Hawthornes with the Baggies being linked for a £1m swoop Scottish international Barry Ferguson.
The midfielder who has fallen out of favour with Glasgow Rangers following a breach of discipline while on international duty. Indeed the Scottish Cup Final was the first game he had played for the Gers since the incident.
He was coy on his future in an interview following the Gers` double victory and The Mirror believes that Tony Mowbray would be interested in capturing his signature.
Meanwhile according to the same news outlet, West Brom assistant manager Mark Venus could be set to depart the Hawthornes in order to take the vacant post at Hibernian.
