According to an article released today new Queens Park Rangers boss Jim Magilton took the job on a specific proviso - no interference.
A week ago today the appointment of Jim Magilton was announced, something that had been bubbling under the surface for a number of weeks. It has emerged today that negotiations surrounding his title and role were the main stumbling blocks in securing an appointment.
According to the London Informer Magilton wanted to be named the 'manager` not 'head coach` and wanted complete control over team affairs, while also deciding what happens on the field of play.
Rumours surrounding previous team talks given by Mr Briatore and how he would control and lean on managers to perform a certain way may have been a deciding factor for some potential candidates to stay away. The appointment of Magilton as 'manager` however may well be a signal that Flavio is ready to calm his overbearing personality.
It has also emerged in this article that Queens Park Rangers are in search of that illusive striker but may have to look abroad because of the prices quoted in this country.
An 'insider` said: 'Practically every manager candidate said there was not much wrong with the squad they might inherit - and Jim was one of those.
'Rangers do need another forward, however - and when you see that former target Fraizer Campbell has gone to Hull for £6m - the club may need to look abroad.'
With Dexter Blackstock believed to be on his way to Nottingham Forest, Rangers search for a forward couldn`t be more urgent and another forward of the ilk of Samuel Di Carmine would be a mistake if QPR harbour ambitions of promotion.
