QPR Target Manchester City Striker

Reports today suggest that QPR are considering a move for Manchester City forward Darius Vassell.

The Daily Mirror is reporting that Vassell is a target for Rangers chiefs to bolster their promotion credentials and boost a profligate front-line.

The former England international has fallen out of favour at Eastlands since the arrival of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his associates.

Signings such as Robinho, Craig Bellamy and more recently Roque Santa Cruz have pushed the former Aston Villa man down the pecking order and the 29-year-old will have to move in search of first-team football.

Vassell has made 265 career appearances scoring 52 goals, also playing a role in Sven Goran Eriksson`s England set up bagging six goals in 22 appearances for the national side.

DV would be a good signing for you. Last season he lost a lot of confidence with us and didn't get that many starts. A change of club could bring back that old spark.

Don't think Vass will want to spend his last few years in a mediocre team in mid table in the Championship. He will go to Wigan or Hull just wait and see.

If he stays in the Premier League good luck to him, but I think we have higher aspirations than mid-table this season.

I hear Gers are looking to take Darius Vassell on from Manchester City. As an attacking midfielder the guy puts in a good shift every game. He still has great pace -- but be aware he is not a natural goalscorer. When they were handing out opportunism this guy stood in the wrong queue and ended up with a double dose of persistence. The thing is, his best season for goalscoring was when he was paired with an exceptionally opportunistic striker, Andy Cole. For a while people said it was like watching the Brazilians. But when Cole left so did Vassell's goals...

I think we have strikers that are capable of goals but last season the link between midfield and attack was pathetic - when Vine came back it improved and we started scoring, maybe Vassell can help that along.

He's better than what we've already got but that's not saying anything. He definitely won't add goals up front for us, and that's what we're crying out for.
