Delaney Joins Ipswich Town

A third exit in a busy day at Loftus Road as Damien Delaney finally completes his move to Ipswich Town.

Delaney has been the subject of interest from the Tractor Boys for some time and had previously expressed his desire to work with Roy Keane when he was linked with the vacant post at Loftus Road.

The 27-year-old full back has penned a two year deal at Portman Road for an undisclosed fee after a disappointing season at Loftus Road that promised much following his initial spell at the club.

Joining in January 2008 Delaney showed his great competence in getting forward from left back under the tenure of Luigi De Canio. A combination of Iain Dowie and Paulo Sousa harnessed this attacking prowess and Delaney`s game suffered as a result.

Queens Park Rangers can look to missing man Gary Borrowdale or central defender Matthew Connolly to fill the void for the time being, unless investment is made in a left full-back.

Vital QPR would like to place on record it`s thanks to Damien and wish his the best of luck in his new role at Portman Road.

Did we get a million for him? Hope we start buying some QUALITY players soon or its midfielders and center-backs for every position. Having said that, Matthew Connolly has done really well at left back.

£700k apparently, I thought we could have held out for more, but at least we're getting fees for these players now. In the past they'd just be on the scrap heap and look for another bargain.

Connolly played well at left back but I think he should be introduced to the centre/right, and that we should buy a left back... unless Borrowdale has magically turned into Roberto Carlos in disguise and we've been waiting for the new season to unleash him on the world. Probably not.

Who is this 'Borrowdale' you speak of....

I've heard tell that it's an extremely shy animal indigenous to the training pitches of West London. Rarely seen, not much footage exists of these majectic creatures, and some indeed believe them to be a myth like the Loch Ness Monster. Scientists believe there is but one left in the wild, which they are desperate to capture in action in order for studies to take place...
