Manchester United defender Richard Eckersley has turned down a move to Queens Park Rangers along with a new contract at Old Trafford.

According to The Mirror, the news outlet that put out the initial transfer speculation story, Richard Eckersley has stunned Old Trafford chiefs by turning down a new deal at Manchester United.

The 20-year-old versatile defender turned down an approach by QPR and is discussing terms with Premier League new boys Burnley as the Clarets look to build a side capable of top flight safety.

Jim Magilton`s experimentation at full back didn`t go unnoticed during the friendly fixture against Aldershot with Romone Rose being blooded at right back while Rangers opted to play without a left back in the second period.

At least Magilton realises that we have major problems at fullback positions. Maybe now we will get the players we need plus a couple a 30 goals a season strikers. The rest of the squad looks very strong and well capable of promotion.
