López Pens Swansea Deal

Former Queens Park Rangers midfielder Jordi López has re-united with boss Paulo Sousa as he signs for Swansea City.

The 28-year-old former Barcelona and Real Madrid player becomes Sousa`s first signing at the Liberty Stadium with Swansea fending off two unnamed Championship clubs for his signature.

The midfielder signed for the R`s in January 2009 with a view to impress sufficiently to extend his contract beyond the end of the campaign.

It quickly became apparent that upon the departure of Portguese boss Sousa, talks would not be straight-forward with the Uefa Cup winner.

Agent and former QPR midfielder Alex Bonnot confirmed that talks with the R`s had come to a stand-still and Swansea lead the interested parties for his signature.

López will sign a two year contract at the Liberty Stadium as he looks to fill the void left by compatriot Jordi Gomez who signed for Wigan Athletic after impressing in the Championship last season.

López played 10 times for the R`s scoring a solitary goal, an outstanding free-kick against Bristol City at Loftus Road.

It's sods law isn't it Kiwi, and he's the biggest sod around! Only kidding, decent player - end of the day he was offered a deal and he doesn't want to play for us... on yer bike!

Didn't know he was offered a deal. Fool !, who doesn't want to play for us ? We'll certainly finish above Swansea this season.

According to Bonnot he was offered a deal, which didn't quite meet their expectations - I think we'll have better value for money in Faurlín in the long run - young, play for longer and a sellable asset.
