Magilton - Cloughie In Disguise?

Queens Park Rangers boss Jim Magilton coins Brian Clough regarding the input into the way he runs the playing side.

Upon reading a quote from Jim Magilton on Eurosport regarding opinions and influence within the club, it appeared he was doing an impression of the great man Brian Clough.

Cloughie famously stated with regards to negotiating with his players: 'talking to my players for 20 minutes before we decide that I'm right.'

Place Ol' Bid 'Ed's comments alongside Queens Park Rangers' boss today and maybe you have the arrogance necessary to be a manager at Loftus Road in the current climate.

"There is nothing wrong with people giving their opinions, but at the end of the day I will live and die by my opinions and my decisions," said Magilton.

"If you have bought a football club I think you have earned the right to have an opinion. I value people's opinions and I value the opinions of everyone at the club - but in the end they'll agree that I'm right!"

One thing is for certain, if Magilton achieves just a tenth of the success of Brian Clough, then QPR fans are in for exciting times.

Certainly a colourful character....and following the model of the great man is nothing to be ashamed of!

Agreed, but if he doesn't deliver after these tongue in cheek lines, he won't get a tenth of the time Cloughie got, lol.

I'm liking Magilton more and more all the time. Possibly that will have worn off by, say, early November .... Hope I'm proved wrong though.

I think the most important thing is that he likes to play football - which is a good start for most supporters.

I'm coming around to him as well. Of course what matters is how we do on the pitch but he certainly seems to be his own man!

Fingers crossed we hopefully manage to produce some entertaining football this year. Please God!
