Gorman Lauds Vignal Quality

Queens Park Rangers assistant manager John Gorman has praised the ability of trialist Gregory Vignal.

The R`s assistant manager has had the chance along with Jim Magilton to cast his eye over the former Liverpool full-back, and he knows from past experience at Southampton that Rangers have an excellent defender in their midst.

'Gregory is a good pro who has been at very big clubs,' Gorman told the BBC

'We spoke and he said he's willing to come here so we can have a look at him, although I don't need to look at him because I know he's a quality player.'

Vignal himself admitted that he has eyed a move back to England, and in QPR he has the ideal opportunity to prove his worth and earn a contract.

'I want to come back to England and this is a chance for me to try to do that. I've got to show I've got quality to bring to the team.'

Vignal came on for Matthew Connolly in the second period in the victory over Wycombe Wanderers, and can look forward to two games in the space of two days as he prepares for the Kettering clash this evening.

He didn't have time to do much to impress, last night, but I'm sure he'll get longer on the field tonight. I say we "risk" him!!

He had a few good touches, but I thought was lacking for pace at times - that Phillips came on and terrorised everything! Incredible pace. That was only a first impression though, still time!

Hopefully we sign him if he's an improvement on the Invisible Man

I have only seen snatches of both so I couldn't judge, the only thing going for Vignal is a greater pedigree. I still think Borrowdale has a role to play - we need two out and out left backs.
