Vital QPR takes a look at the career of new signing Alessandro Pellicori
28-year-old striker Alessandro Pellicori made the highly-anticipated move to Loftus Road today, here Vital QPR takes a look at his profile in the game.
Name: Alessandro Pellicori
Date of Birth: July 22, 1981 (27)
Position: Striker
Clubs: Cosenza, Lecce, Avellino (L), Varese (L), Foggia (L), Benevento (L), Grosseto, Catanzaro, Piacenza, Cesena, Avellino, Grosseto (L).
Italian striker Alessandro Pellicori started his career with hometown club Cosenza in 1999, and from there was deemed worthy of an opportunity to step up to Serie A with Lecce.
The Giallorossi snapped up the striker in 2000, but limited opportunity saw Alessandro loaned out to Avellino in 2002, where he scored seven goals in 18 games. Another loan spell ensued this time at Varese in 2003 where he scored a solitary goal in nine games with Leopardi.
Two goals on loan at Foggia and a single strike for Benevento brought to a close his time at Lecce, a club for whom he only made four appearances in four years at the Stadio Via del Mare.
Alessandro moved to Grosseto where despite 22 goals in 53 games, they missed out on promotion from Serie C1 on goal difference. Since then he has had brief spells with Catanzaro, Piacenza and Cesena before moving to Avellino in 2007.
He had scored 18 goals in 38 games for the club before being loaned back out to Grosseto for the remainder of the recent campaign.
He rejected a five-year deal from home-town club Cosenza to sign for QPR in a deal which was officially announce on July 30.
