Northampton Open Talks With QPR's Rose

Queens Park Rangers youngster looks set to speak to Northampton Town after impressing boss Stuart Gray in Milton Keynes.

The youngster, who has been predominantly used as a full back during pre-season under Jim Magilton, was a surprise trialist for the Cobblers in their recent friendly defeat against the MK Dons.

Northampton boss Stuart Gray was complimentary of the youngster, with a deal being struck to let him play following his performance down the road at Kettering.

'He started very positively," Gray told the Northampton Chronicle & Echo.

'He struck a nice shot pretty early, which he was unlucky to miss the target with, and he's come in from a championship club so he's got good pedigree.

'It was a bit of a last-minute thing because we had the game between QPR and Kettering watched and Jim Magilton has let him come and play for us.

'Fair play to him, he drove up here and played without really meeting anyone, and ended up getting thrown into it, so I need to sit down with him and talk about where we're going with it.'

Romone has previously been out on loan with AFC Wimbledon who expressed an interest in signing the youngster a few seasons ago.

He made a handful of appearances last season after making his debut on the final day of the 2007-08 season against West Bromwich Albion.
