Heaton Signs On Loan

QPR's search for another goalkeeper - following the departure of Lee Camp to Nottingham Forest last month - seems to have come to an end. At least temporarily!

Tom Heaton, Manchester United's first choice reserve goalkeeper and an England U-21 international, had been training with the squad this past week and today signed an emergency three-month loan deal, according to QPR.co.uk. His signature came in time for him to take his place on the bench at Home Park this afternoon.

Magilton was delighted with Heaton's signature: 'I'm delighted we've been able to bring in a keeper of Tom's calibre to the Club,' he admitted to QPR.co.uk.

During 2008/2009, Heaton spent a year on loan with Cardiff City and became their first-choice first team goalkeeper. So he is no stranger to the Championship.

'He's a good keeper, who knows what it takes to play in the Championship,' Magilton added.

'We need competition for Radek (Cerny) and Tom will provide that.'

Rs' goalkeeping coach, David Rouse, has worked with Tom Heaton when he was employed at Manchester United, so knows alot about the youngster.

The terms of Heaton's loan deal means he will be able to play in the Carling Cup for us.
