Queens Park Rangers forward Adel Taarabt believed that the R's were unlucky against Bristol City while being disappointed about his own missed opportunity.
The loanee from Tottenham Hotspur sensationally missed the target midway through the second half after some excellent wingwork by Wayne Routledge.
Routledge beat his man before firing a ball from the right-hand by-line and Taarabt with only the keeper to beat on the far post sliced the ball back across goal and off Dean Gerken`s left hand upright.
The Moroccan international has since told QPR.co.uk that a deflection in the ball's path wrong-footed him and caused him to spurn the opportunity.
'It took a small deflection and I didn't get a strong foot on the ball,' he said
'It's disappointing, because I was in the perfect position to score before the defender got his leg to it.
'Without that deflection, I think I would have scored, but it wasn't to be.'
Nicky Maynard's stunning effort with short of ten minutes remaining may have come against the run of play but it was no less than City`s incessant first half pressure had deserved.
A goal fit to win any game, he strode wide of Damion Stewart before rifling a right-footed effort beyond the dive of Radek Cerny to send the home crowd into raptures.
Despite being under pressure for large spells of the game Taarabt believes that Rangers deserved more from the fixture.
A nasty injury to Robins forward Andrius Velicka halted Rangers in their tracks, and prompted seven minutes of stoppage time - this Taarabt believed stifled the visitors progress.
'We're all really disappointed, because we deserved more from the game," he continued
'I think we were in the ascendancy in the second half, but the injury and resultant delay stopped us in our tracks.
'We need to bounce back against Forest now.'
Queens Park Rangers now face Nottingham Forest at the weekend with former striker Dexter Blackstock fresh from scoring on Tuesday night.
With Rangers now three games without a win in the Championship, Magilton will be looking to home comfort to carry the R's to victory.
